Steps for obtaining your real estate license in the State of Michigan

Take a State approved real estate pre-licensure course

To become a licensed real estate agent, importantly, you must take a real estate pre-licensing course from a State of Michigan accredited real estate licensing school. This course provides 40 hours of approved pre-licensure courses. Importantly, this includes at least 4 hours of civil rights law and equal opportunity in housing training. Finally, once you complete the course, you obtain official real estate transcripts or a certificate from the school, which is required for your license application.

Pass the State of Michigan real estate exam

After you complete your pre-license course and pass your exam, you’ll take and pass the Real Estate Salesperson exam with PSI Services, LLC. For exam related questions or to schedule your exam, contact PSI at or by calling 800-733-9267.

Select an employing broker

You are required to have a licensed individual broker or broker company sponsor you to become licensed. After the selected employing broker approves your request, your license will issue and you will be notified via email.
