All of the 40 privately owned homes are architecturally unique.  Each is complete with full kitchens, one or two full baths, living room, and bedroom(s). Some units have garages. Owners are able to individually landscape their own front and back yards.  Most have basements and about a third of these have walk-out access to the surrounding grounds.  Sunward Cohousing promotes community feel through shared green spaces, community kitchen where regular shared meals and events take place and design that promotes crossing paths to and from the home.  Sunward also believes in green living and promotes earth friendly living.  Interior maintenance is the owner’s responsibility, while the Sunward Association handles exterior maintenance and repairs.

Homeowners are just minutes from downtown community creating a town within a town and allowing for a quick commute to surrounding areas.  Students attend Ann Arbor Public Schools
